Pearls for calm,
tassels for celebration

The Karuvia Pearl Tassel Wool Toran is crocheted in deep crimson, hung with a net of pearls, and fringed with hand-wrapped tassels. It is made for the doorway where every good thing arrives.

Red is where every good beginning starts.

The colour of beginnings

In many Indian homes, red is waiting at the start of everything that matters: the kumkum on a forehead, the border of a festival sari, the sacred thread tied around a wrist. It is never the colour of an ending. It is the colour of a door about to open.

We wanted that feeling at the one place where every beginning actually walks in. So we started with red wool, deep and true, and crocheted it into a thick band set with a line of pearls, like the first lamps lit at dusk. Beneath it hang three triangles of fine knotted net, with a pearl caught at every crossing, so the light from the room passes through and arrives softer.

Then come the tassels. A fringe of them runs along every edge of the triangles, each one wrapped and tied by hand, each a small bell without the sound. When the door opens they sway together, and the whole toran seems to take a breath.

Hang it for Diwali and it glows. Leave it up all year and it quietly becomes the colour of your home’s welcome.

100% handmade

Crocheted, knotted and wrapped entirely by hand, and crafted with love and care. No two pieces are exactly alike.

Premium quality wool

Soft, durable and long lasting, in a red that stays rich and true.

Elegant and traditional design

Three pearl-net triangles and a tassel fringe, a silhouette that feels at home in every Indian doorway.

Perfect for home décor

Ideal for every occasion, from a daily welcome at the main door to the biggest festival of the year.

Made of three small things, done well

A toran is judged at arm’s length, but it is made at thread’s length. Here is what you will find when you look closer.

The band

A thick crocheted band in deep red, set with pearls along its length. It sits flat against the door frame and gives the whole toran its shape.

The pearl net

Fine red cord is knotted into a diamond net with a pearl caught at every crossing. Light passes through it, so it never feels heavy over a doorway.

The tassels

Wrapped and tied by hand and set closely along each edge, so the fringe moves as one when the door opens.

Hanging it

Fix small hooks, pins or adhesive hooks evenly along the top of the door frame and secure the band so it sits flat. Leave the net and tassels free to fall and sway.

Keeping it lovely

Dust gently with a soft brush and spot-clean with a lightly damp cloth. Do not soak, wring or machine wash. Keep deep reds out of strong direct sun, and store the toran flat in a cotton cloth.

Around flames and little hands

Keep it well away from diyas, candles and incense. Tassels and pearls tempt small children and curious pets, so hang it above their reach.

Questions we are often asked

The things people ask before they bring a toran home. If yours is not here, send us a message.

Is the Pearl Tassel Toran really handmade?

Yes. The band is crocheted by hand, the net is knotted by hand, and every tassel is wrapped and tied by hand. Small differences in shape and spacing from one piece to the next are natural.

Are the pearls real?

They are pearl-finish beads, not natural pearls. They give a soft, creamy lustre against the red and are practical for everyday hanging in a doorway.

Will it fit my door?

Check the size shown in the product details above and compare it with the width of your door frame or archway. If your opening is unusually wide or narrow, send us the measurement and we will help you decide.

Will the tassels shed or the pearls come loose?

Each tassel is tied securely and the net is knotted at every crossing, so the pearls stay where they were placed. As with any wool tassel, a stray fibre may loosen in the first few days. Trim it with small scissors rather than pulling it.

How do I hang it?

Use small hooks, pins or adhesive hooks along the top of the door frame, spaced evenly so the band sits flat. Check that the net and tassels hang clear of the door when it opens and closes.

Is it safe around children and pets?

Tassels and beads can tempt small hands and paws, so please hang the toran above their reach. Keep it away from diyas, candles and incense as well.

How do I clean it and keep the red bright?

Dust it gently with a soft brush and spot-clean with a lightly damp cloth. Please avoid soaking, wringing or machine washing. Keep it indoors or under a covered entrance and out of strong direct sunlight, which can fade deep reds over time.

Can I ask for a different size or colour?

You can always message us with your door width and the colours you have in mind, and we will tell you what we can make for you.

Give your doorway a red-letter welcome

Pearls, tassels and deep crimson wool, made by hand for the doorway you walk through every day.
